The Elderly

The "Havayot Center" offers a variety of programming geared for seniors. 

The purpose of the programs is to offer an alternative for loneliness, old-age, and its challenges though encounters with animals. The client experiences an opportunity for a deep connection that allows him or her to return as much as possible to vitality and maintain contact with those around him.

Animals allow contact between the participants, and between them and the instructor / therapist. Through working with animals one can evoke emotions and invigorate many life skills.

Among our programs:

• Individual treatment at the "Havayot Center".

• Individual care at the client's home.

• Group activities at the "Havayot Center,” in nursing homes and day-centers for the elderly. During the sessions, participants will be exposed to many activities with different animals, learning about their natural environment, history, background, nutrition and care, body structure, reproduction, training and more. Also, during the sessions participants will be invited to feed, pet, groom and care for the animals.

• Activities related to life events: holidays, birthdays and more, tailored to the meeting, the participants, and the needs of the institution.

The activities program is very flexible and built in collaboration with the client. A program can be built in collaboration with social workers and employment coordinators who work for the benefit of the elderly.
